MemoQ: export comments
This is a quick post dedicated to MemoQ users who want MemoQ to export comments, a feature that is switched off by default and that is hidden among other features.
Click “Read more” to read the solutions.
MemoQ comments
MemoQ offers a simple way to add comments with various levels to translations. While translating a text, you can simply select a phrase and hit ‘Ctrl + M’ to insert a comment. A dialogue window is opened then which allows you to add your comments and to select the severity of your comment, varying from ‘Information’ to ‘Error’.
However, when you export your final – clean – document, the comments inserted are hidden my default. That is annoying and confusing. How to get rid of that?
MemoQ export comments
Although it seems otherwise MemoQ can still export the comments in the clean version. In order to do that you should select this feature in the software’s settings.
Here’s how to do that:
1. Click the gear icon in the left corner to open the options menu
2. In the dialogue window, click Miscellaneous
3. You can now select the kind of comments you want MemoQ to export.
Select Export all types of comments to export all comments.
4. MemoQ will now export the comments into the final document.

Unfortunately, it’s still not working in my case.

Please can you tell me what’s not working?
Gabe
This is not working for me either. Although “Export all types of comments” (and the other options, as consequence) is checked, when I export the file, no comments are carried over to the final file. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

Hi Gabe, annoying!
What type of text editor do you have?

Hi everyone,
We have checked this with support and there could be many reasons as to why this is not working for each individual user.
On top of our heads we think that users are not working with .docx files, as this is needed to export comments.
If your case is different, please to contact us at support@kilgray.com – We are happy to help.
Cheers,
